He's right, though. Some people are so far gone, they'll never be able to accept the truths that he is offering.

George Orwell was right.

No, we have to allow for the possibility that it might not be okay.

I intend to keep educating myself and paying attention, though.

AHAHAHAHA!

Thanks. I needed a laugh.

I'm sharing that with as many people as I think will get a kick out of it.

This is why I like to study the art of propaganda.

It's amazing how many people on the left love this quote even now, until I tell them who said it:

All great movements are popular movements. They are the volcanic eruptions of human passions and emotions, stirred into activity by the ruthless Goddess of Distress or by the torch of the spoken word cast into the midst of the people.

Don't you like how now it's fashionable to go after churches in the name of "no on prop 8"? Meanwhile they're destroying democracy one machine at a time.

Who said that quote?

As for these attacks on the "Yes on Prop 8" churches, well...

I have no great love for the most visible of them. The LDS church has never particularly impressed me on an intellectual level. I don't have anything against most of its members on an individual level; they generally seem like decent, hard-working folks who understand the meanings of things like personal responsibility, though I have met a few who could more readily be described as bigoted or lazy. Those latter sorts tend to be "lapsed" LDS members, or people who swiftly become "lapsed".

But I think these assaults on the LDS church and others who voiced approval for Prop 8 are just another step toward facism.

The hypocrisy of it all is simply staggering.

And have you been hearing about all the bigoted, intolerant violence that self-described "pro-equality", pro-gay-marriage sorts have been inflicting against blacks in SoCal? There have been instances of what can only be described as violent hate crimes perpetuated against blacks for their support of Prop 8.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

heh google for the quote.

so how do i politely tell all our fashion conscious friends that 'no i don't want to go to your rally cos you're going around blaming black people and latinos for prop 8'?

They'll attack the LDS then they'll attack all religion. There's this beautiful quote i tell these hippies who attack religion:

"If our Gods and our hopes are nothing but scientific phenomena, then let us admit it must be said that our love is scientific as well."
- Auguste Villiers de l'Isle-Adam's 1886.

I mean the LDS are kinda heretics but hey at last I checked we had freedom of religion in this country, instead of "you can only worship what the cool hipster neo beatniks worship".

I am so glad I'm moving to new york city.

to them it's just fashionable they see obama win and they want to be able to tell their kids someday "oh we fought for equality too, only um we didn't actually want equality, we just wanted to look cool on facebook and get our pictures in the paper at this rally cos well, chicks dig that."
